COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
DEODORANT, GENERAL PURPOSE (CONCENTRATED)
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this
Commercial Item Description in lieu of Federal Specification P-D-1293.
Salient characteristics:
The product shall be liquid concentrated water-miscible deodorant for use in sprays and scrub water.
The deodorant shall not contain an odor counteractant, not just odor masking agents. After use, it shall leave a mild pleasant odor or no odor. It shall not leave a heavy or strong masking odor.
When used as directed on the container, the deodorant shall eliminate the odors from stale cigarette and cigar smoke, urine and fecal matter, vomit, food, spillage, garbage, cooked foods, perspiration, pets, fire damage, hospitals, and nursing homes.
Note: Purchasers should specify in the contract the size containers of deodorant required.
Certification. The contractor shall certify the product offered meets the salient characteristics of this description and that the product conforms to the producer’s own drawings, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices and is the same product offered for sale in the commercial marketplace. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract.
Packaging, packing, and marking. The deodorant shall be packaged in accordance with normal commercial practice and packed in fiberboard boxes that will assure acceptance by common carrier and provide protection against loss and damage during multiple shipments, handling, and storage. The shipping container shall be in compliance with National Motor Freight Classification and Uniform Freight Classification. Shipping containers shall be marked as specified in the contract or order.
