COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION DISINFECTANT-DETERGENT, GENERAL PURPOSE
(QUATERNARY AMMONIUM COMPOUND)
The General Service Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description for all federal agencies.
1. SCOPE. This commercial item description (CID) covers quaternary ammonium compound disinfectant-detergent. The disinfectant-detergent described herein is intended for use in cleaning, deodorizing, sanitizing, and disinfecting hard surfaces such as walls, floors, woodwork, and other washable surfaces in hospitals, public buildings, and food service areas.
2. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS.
2.1 Disinfectant. The quaternary ammonium compound disinfectant-detergent, when used as directed on the label in a use-dilution solution, prepared with hard water containing a minimum of 400 parts per million (ppm) hardness (as calcium carbonate) and 5% (V/V) sterile bovine serum albumin (BSA), shall be:
Bactericidal against Staphylococcus aureus (American Type Culture Collection

Salmonella choleraesuis (ATCC No. 10708) Pseudomonas aeruginosa (ATCC No. 15442)
Fungicidal against Trichophyton mentagrophytes (ATCC No. 9533)
