COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
INSECTICIDE, CHLORDANE (CONCETRATE, WATER EMULSIFIABLE)
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this Commercial Item Description in preference to Federal Specification 0-I-515.
Intended use
This Commercial Item Description covers concentrated insecticide containing chlordane, kerosene and an emulsifying agent that upon dilution with water will serve as a residual type spray suitable for the control of subterranean termites.
Salient characteristics
The product shall be composed of technical grade chlorine, deodorized kerosene, and an emulsifying agent that will be completely miscible in the finished formulation. The product shall contain a minimum of 72 grams of finished product.
Appearance. The product shall be substantially free from sediment, homogenous, and show no evidence of separation.
Emulsion stability. The emulsion formed upon dilution of the product with hard water shall show not more than 4 ml of creamy layer separation and no oil separation when tested in accordance with ASTM Method D 1722.
Registered label
The labeling shall be approved by and registered with the Pesticide Registration Division, Environmental Protection Agency, and shall be in compliance with the requirements of 40 CFR 162 as listed in this description.
Certification
The contractor shall certify that the product offered meets the salient characteristics of this description and that the product conforms to the producer’s own drawings, specifications, standards and quality assurance practices and is the same product sold in the commercial marketplace. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract.
