COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION INSECTICIDE, PARADICHLOROBENZENE
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description for all federal agencies.
1. SCOPE. This commercial item description (CID) covers one type of paradichlorobenzene
(PDCB) for use as a fumigant against fabric pests, primarily clothes moths.
2. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS
2.1 Intended use. The PDCB shall be an effective fumigant against fabric pests. PDCB shall not be used in conjunction with naphthalene, which is also used as a fumigant against fabric pests.
2.2 Product concentration and form. The product shall contain a minimum concentration of
99.3 percent PDCB, by weight, and shall be in the form of a solid.
3. REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS
3.1 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR). The PDCB shall be registered with the Environmental
Protection Agency as a fumigant against fabric pests and labeled pursuant to 40 CFR 152.
3.2 Marking, packaging, and labeling. Material shall be labeled, packed, and marked in accordance with 49 CFR, Parts 100 to 185.
