4.4.2.1 Composite sample. One 3.43-ounce pouch A shall be selected from each sample

unit. The contents of the pouches selected shall be thoroughly mixed to yield a homogeneous

composite. The composite shall be placed in an airtight and watertight brown glass container

and covered and sealed to prevent any moisture change.

4.4.2.2 Sample unit basis. The remaining pouches from the sample units selected shall

be used for testing on a sample unit basis. Care shall be exercised to prevent any change in the

compound due to moisture prior to testing.

4.4.2.3 Frequency of testing. Except when otherwise specified in table V, the tests for

each characteristic shall be performed on a lot-by-lot basis. Those tests designated by an asterisk

shall be performed on the first lot and on every fifth lot thereafter.
